Students:
When you practice, have your head pointed towards the center of the mat, or wherever the instructor(s) are usually teaching. This allows them to check your technique from a distance. Don’t just lay down randomly. Be intentional with even that.
Depending on your school, you may have lazy instructors that sit or stand in one place the whole time. If so, it’s your job to make their job easier, if you want their help. (Then again, maybe you should just learn from someone else if your teacher can’t be bothered. That’s what you pay them for!)
Instructors:
Tell your students that when they practice, to have their heads pointed towards the center of the mat. This way, you can see more from wherever you are.
I certainly appreciate being able to be with one pair of students physically on side of the mat, and still give feedback to another pair on the other side. That’s possible when students help me help them.
