If You're Not Sure, Tap

There’s no point in holding on to a submission defense if you don’t have the energy, strategy, or technique to escape. Just tap.

Save yourself from injury.

Also, save time. Tap, learn from it, and use the time to roll.

Ego preservation is usually the reason to resist tapping. That’s myopic. If you’re trying to keep from looking bad in front of anyone (especially your teacher), get over that as soon as you can.

Anyway, no one cares. They’re worried about their own jiu-jitsu.

Sometimes you just get caught. One tap doesn’t mean much in the big picture. But an injury can set you back weeks, months, or even forever.
