Instagram Carousel: “Compounding”
(based on the JJL post “Compounding,” 2024-01-25)
Slide 1 (Hook) A dollar that doubles every day is worth $1 billion in 30 days.
Most people guess way too low. Your jiu-jitsu is the same.
Slide 2 Here’s the question: how many of those 30 days does it take to go from $1 to half a billion?
Slide 3 The answer is 29.
One dollar. Twenty-nine days of nothing impressive. Then the entire payoff happens on day 30.
Slide 4 We’re bad at thinking exponentially. We think progress is a straight line.
It’s not. It’s flat for a long time, then it isn’t.
Slide 5 In jiu-jitsu, everyone starts at zero.
Some people learn faster than others. That’s their rate of return.
But the variable that actually matters is time. Who’s still here.
Slide 6 Chris Haueter said it best:
“It’s not who’s good, it’s who’s left.”
Slide 7 (CTA) You don’t need a high rate of return. You need a long time horizon.
Show up. Keep going. The big gains come at the end — and “the end” is further out than you think.
Notes
- Slides 2–3 work well as a “guess the answer” pause — good for engagement (people will comment their guess).
- Slide 6 is the most shareable single slide — could double as a standalone quote graphic if you want to repurpose it later.
- CTA on slide 7 ties back to “Some People Still Make It” without restating it — good for viewers who saw both posts.
